Israel 2019 Elections Early Results

As is usual, the media and the left (typically the same thing), already declared victory for the Arab and Jewish leftist block since yesterday, we knew better and The Lighthouse commented on that throughout the day, here and on social media. About 7 hours ago, we were confident in declaring a general right wing camp, led by “Bibi” Netanyahu victory, but was very concerned about the all-time high threshold of 3.25% and basically 4 Knesset seats: The right wing camp has the victory I am confident, despite Gantz, and company (including the media) claiming victory for the last 15 hours (from before the polls even finished closing). His attempt at trying to get small parties to join him, in case he was the biggest single party, even if the right wing camp was larger. No matter… its in our hands, and he may not even get the distinction of the largest single party. If all place country before their ministerial seat, we should be fine.Always fun to watch commis delivering their victory speeches when they lose. Maybe he will sue like Gore. So that is all good but…What remains to be seen is Zehut… not crossing the threshold???!! Foul play? [...]

Brief followup during Election 2019

Of course, my full shpiel on the election is here. But a couple of points in brief for those on the right who are afraid to not vote Likud, or not vote Moshe Feiglin for coalition politics reasons. First, for those on the right, the choice between the United Right, and Zehut. Normally, we vote for the United Right, but I have to say this time it ought to be different. The United Right is now composed of two sets of people broadly… as it is a union of Bennett’s old party (basically the old NRP, Mafdal), and the Tekuma and Otzma people. The former are people that are excellent decent people, but are quite mainstream in their politics (meaning not quite right wing). Certainly in favor of the business as usual socialism and very Likudnik in their position on land (say you want to give it away but try not to). These are not folks we would usually vote for when thinking of the free market conservative right wing. The second wing of the list, is made up of more truly right wing characters. If that list was headed by the likes of Aryeh Eldad, Benny Elon and Rehavaam [...]

The 2019 Israeli Election & Some Memories. Vote Right!

Something is finally changing int the air. I have known for decades, and written for many years, the same basic truisms that though I noted, seem to escape us as a nation of Jews, and as the voter base of the State of Israel.Somehow, we have endured the progressives’ insistence on ending every aspect of western society, the pressure of political correctness to commit national suicide, and somehow, here we are and though we really can’t see the pendulum swing the other way yet, we feel in this infinitely small slice of time, that it jut might start. The Election is Tomorrow. I think it is one of the most important elections Israel has had in many years if not decades. I have tired to explain for a long time, that the main problem in Israel’s foreign policy is not in its weak attempts at “Hasbara”, PR, marketing nor anything of the sort. The problem is the policy itself. Despite what people may or may not think about Jews and/or Arabs (many don’t like either very much, at least in private), the political reality is a very far cry from what we as Jews and Israelis believe it is.
